place at Gateshead 8 JuneIn what was always going to be a difficult fixture our A team still managed to finish 4th on the day. At this level you need to cover all your events and Captain Paul Jamison had spent a difficult week in the lead up to this fixture getting out his best side. Club stalwart Sammy Rashid once again made his way by train from Sheffield and was rewarded with a fine run of 15.29.4 in the 5000, his second best performance beat only by his 15.25 .in the BUSAs at Bedford in May 1999 This leaves us still second overall two league points behind Derby and with a great chance of claiming the division 1 title. I have no news from our b team as yet only that they finished 2nd in their fixture. |
3rd Place for Young Athletes at Bebbibgton

finished third with 305 points, behind Wirral (435.5) and Wigan (353.5) in
the third round of matches in the UKA National Young Athletes League held
at Bebbington Oval on Sunday June 1st. Nestle York were 4th with 240
points.The outstanding performance of the day came from Mark Grimshaw making his first appearance of the season. He achieved a grade 1 standard with his performance in the under 17 Boys 400 metres, winning in a time of 51.4 secs. Other winners were as follows:- Under 17 Boys A events Mark Leicester 800m, Robert Stocks 1500m, Carl Williams 1500m steeplechase, Joe Cooper Triple Jump. Under 17 B Boys events Tom McCarten 800m, Chris Melling 1500m, David Furlong 1500m steeplechase and 400m hurdles, David Wilkie 3,000m and Liam Wignall Triple Jump. Under 15 Boys A events Sam Hutchinson 1500m, Shaun Harris Discus, Under 15 Boys B events Ben Johnson 800m, Andrew Bowen 1500m, Luke Parker Discus, Mike Armstrong High Jump, Under 13 Boys A events Nathan Hilton 100m Under 13 Boys B events Liam Hankin 100m and Long Jump Wins were also achieved in the U17 Boys 4x400m relay and U13 4x 100m relay Under 17 Girls A events Nicola Bear 800m Under 15 Girls A events Gemma Simpson High Jump Under 15 girls B events Ashley McComb High Jump Under 13 Girls A events Danielle Lucy 800m Under 13 girls B events Kate Hughes 800m |
