Liverpool`s Sefton Park was the venue for one of the Reebok Cross Challenge series that attracts the best of the nation`s cross country runners. Liverpool Pembroke Sefton senior star, Jimmy Boardman, was fractionally off the very fast pace but still came home a solid 17th. Incorporated in this event was the final match of the Liverpool and District Cross Country League. Boardman was,unsurprisingly, a comfortable winner of that category. Sammy Rashid`s first outing of the season carried him into fifth spot. Colin Jones continues astound by moving up to ninth position and was ably assisted by Steve Donegan(23), Graham Cairns(26) and Greg Callaghan(36). The team was third on the day and third in the final placings. A feature of the season to date is the club`s resurgence. At full strength they are being respected again.
