then youths in attendance at the Florence Institute, Mill St, were at the dinner in strength. They (or several of them) were anxious to tell the younger generation of their experiences, and most of the other members of Sefton and the large representative body of visitors, were anxious to hear what the veterans of 89 had to say. So it was that closing time came all too quickly, but while most of us would have stayed on for a long time, we came away feeling we had taken part in a memorable evening.
 Very string too, was the demonstration of good-will by the whole company towards Mr Harry Goldbourn (President) when his health was proposed, and when he intimated that this was his twenty first year in office.
 A very good musical entertainment had been arranged and the programme was thus an exceedingly full one from the opening of the proceedings to the lusty singing of the National Anthem".
