Jumpers hit the heights at Wavertree

Liverpool Harriers once again held their pre-season open meets at Wavertree. Liverpool Pembroke Sefton jumpers were there in force and came away with a clutch of medals and personal bests. At Under 17 Jorden Pilkington outclassed her rivals with a 1.55m leap while Sadie McNulty tied for first at Under 15 with 1.45m. In an additional competition there was a clean sweep as Sadie took gold this time with 1.50m with Scarlet Whitfield silver on a breakthrough height of 1.40m and Emma Ward bronze with 1.35m. At Long Jump U20 Evelyn Smalley was best with 4.87m while at U15 Erin Birchall leapt 4.70m. Other noteworthy jumps came from U15s Sadie McNulty(4.51m), Alice Prescott(4.45m) and Marcus Baithe on 4.30m.
For the throwers U20 Jenny Pyatt was again dominant with a Discus throw of 39.25m while U17 Laura Fairclough showed progress in the Hammer with 27.20m. Jorden Pilkington who has an eye on a multi-event career threw a useful Shot Putt of 8.40m.
Three excellent performances caught the eye on the track. At U20 Elliot Jones looked majestic as he headed the field with a sharp 100m in 11.3 against a head wind. Joe Milton just lost out in the 200m but with an outstanding 22.8 time. There was a very mature performance from U20 Matt Richardson as he led from start to finish in the 800m shrugging off his only rival with 2.03.0. Flossie Jones ecorded a 2.49.4 timing for the same distance while another U17 Alexandra Bundlank was on a decent 56.6 for the 300m hurdles event.
The Ormskirk 5K Park Run saw James Loftus(16.57) and Mark Wynne(17.19) clear of the field while at the Crosby event Kirsty Longley recorded 18.07 and Robbie Wood did 20.09 at Croxteth Park
