Jenny Pyatt won the U20 women’s discus at this year’s northern championships with a throw of 43.51m and in doing so shattered the championship record which had stood for 25 years. What better way to warm up for the English schools championships early next month. Also, competing at Sports City was Emma Givens who won bronze in the senior women’s 100m hurdles (16.43m) and veteran Clare Constable continued her fine run of form with runs in the 800m (2:21.52) & a season’s best of 61.11 in the 400m
