Liverpool Pembroke Sefton had six athletes at the highly competitive English Schools Championships at Gateshead. Rosie Johnson posted a personal best time of 4.38.85 in finishing second in her Junior Girls 1500m heat. In the final she could only manage 4.42.15 which left her in ninth place. Still a very good performance at this level. Also at 1500m two Intermediate LPS athletes Ryan Blackwell(4.11.96) and James Grundy(4.13.96) acquitted themselves well but could not escape 10th and 11th in their heat. Junior Boy Joe Milton was at his best with 53.87 in the 400m but 5th similarly could not advance him further. Senior Ruth Doran was 7th in the Shot Final with 10.55m and Kate Doran 10th in the High Jump with 1.58m. Missing these championships with injury was Amelia McLaughlin who must have been grieved to see her High Jump event won with a height well within her compass.
