Litherland Mid-Lancs Report

The final Mid-Lancs fixture held at Litherland was something of a low key event with most clubs depleted due to athletes away on holiday. However, there were still some excellent performances from Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton athletes on the day.
Lauren Lewis(U17), following her disappointment at the English Schools, responded with 3 victories in the 100m (12.9), 200m (26.4) & long jump (5.21m). Abigael Bamber(U15 )didn’t quite complete a sprint double, winning the 100m (13.4) but was edged into second place in the 200m (27.7). Olivia Evans Yates was the pick of the U15 girls in the long jump, finishing 2nd with a leap of 4.56m. In the same age group, Ebony Raw reached new heights in the high jump finishing 2nd with 1.45m.
At senior level, Kirsty Longley was a comfortable winner in the 1500m with a season’s best time of 4:49.6, Lucy Townson was 1st in 200m (26.8) and 2nd in 400m(60.1) & Lucy Wroblewski was 2nd in the javelin (24.45m)
In the men’s team, Matt Ingram completed a double in the horizontal jumps with victory in the long jump (6.36m) & triple jump (13.08m) and Jonathon Bride reduced his pb by 4 sec. with victory in the 1500m (4:12.7). Veteran, Dave Brown, accrued some useful points in the throws events with 2nd place in the discus(30.20m) & hammer (27.94m) & 4th place in the shot (8.56m). The 800m race was a battle for club pride with Jack Crook (2:05.6) getting the better of James Metcalfe (2:06.3) & Joe Mulhall (2:07.5).
Undoubtedly, the race of the day was in the U17 100m with Callum Garvey just getting the better of team mate Ciaran Scroggie. They couldn’t be separated by the timekeepers with both boys being given the same time of 12 sec. Ciaran then returned to finish 2nd in the 200m (24.3). Max Dawson(U17) extended his pb in the javelin by over 4 metres when he finished 2nd with a throw of 36.08m. Kai Finch (1.90m) won the high jump from team mate, Owen Southern who returned to form with a leap of 1.80m
Although only finishing 4th in the high jump, Mark Roberts (U15) continues to improve & his jump of 1.55m was a new pb, while on the track, Mark finished 2nd in the 400m (59.2). Harry Steele battled bravely to finish 2nd in the 200m race (25.6) & Fletcher Foster continues to improve with a new pb in the 800m of 2:19.6. Jacob Slater was the pick of the U13 boys finishing 2nd in the 1,500m (5:05.5
The girls points total of 105 saw them finish 2nd behind Preston Harriers (219.5) while the boys finished 3rd (124) behind Preston (200) & Blackpool (131)
