Its only five days into 2020 and Jamie Hopkins has already completed in his first combined events in a new age group, as an U20, at the English Indoor Combined Events Championships at Sheffield. This championship is a heptathlon and encapsulates other area/regional titles including the Northern Championship. The competition is completed over two days and made up of 60m sprint, Long Jump, Shot Put, Pole Vault, 60m Hurdles, High Jump & 1000m run.
Jamie’s performance included four superb PB’s and very close to three others and culminated in him being recognised as the Northern Champion.
Jamie’s results were;
60m – 7.66secs (PB)
Long Jump – 6.13m (PB)
6kg Shot Put – 8.79m
Pole Vault – 2.83m
60m Hurdles – 9.03secs (PB)
High Jump – 1.79m
1000m – 2m59secs (PB)
One medal down and a great start to 2020 for Jamie…..anyone else interested in combined events?
