Mystery tours to park run

A quieter week for LPS started positively with Andrew Conway achieving a season best of 21:59 in the Wavertree Mystery 5k. Andrew followed this up with a 7th place (3rd Master) in the Alyn Waters 10k trail race in a time of 49.36.

Keeping with the Wavertree theme, we had a small but quality contingent representing the club in the Northern Championships over the weekend.

Joe Niven competing in the 3000m steeplechase finished in 9:52 to take the Silver medal 🥈, marginally behind 1st place.

In the senior men 5000m, Ross Harrison finished in a strong 15:18 against a quality and busy field.  Pretty good going seeing as though he’d just had a week away on a club 18-30.

Jamie Hopkins made the final in the 110m hurdles and finished in 16.88.

Anna Peers continues to impress in the field. She took silver in the senior women’s javelin with a throw of 39.17 and bronze in the discus with 38.56.

Sé Loughlin made his comeback following a month out injured  with a comfortable 1st finish at Southport Parkrun. The time of 15:52 also saw him take the age group record.

In the same event, Joanna Durkin , continuing her good run of form , once again hit sub 20 finishing 2nd lady in  19:49.

So the week started with a mystery and finished on one. The final mystery being …who knew one athlete needed so many pairs of trainers and spikes?
