Amelia is the EA Senior High Jump Champion.

After the disappointment of finishing second at the English schools championships last month, Amelia Jennings-McLaughlin has won the England Athletics Senior High Jump Championships at Bedford with a leap of 1.77m. All the hard work with coach, Sue Moncrief, has paid off and Amelia has become the club’s first senior EA champion for many years.

Boys lead the way at Hyndburn

It was the boys who led the way in the final Mid-Lancs fixture of the season. At a very wet Hyndburn they finished second behind league winners Preston Harriers. Seniors, Sean Kirkbride 1500m (4:14.9)and Dom O’Hanlon Triple Jump (11.70m) secured maximum points in their events whilst U17 Jack Crook
(2:02.7)and Matty Richardson (2:03.7) made it a 1-2 in the 800 metres. They were ably supported by Matthew Ingram in the triple jump(12.39m),
Ed Latimer in 200m (23.00, Ben Harding in the javelin (38.75m) who all won their events, while Dan Jones knocked 12 seconds off his 1500m time
(4:29.8). In addition Callum Hynd provided some useful points in the hammer(22.90m), discus(32.61m) & shot (7.49m).

Although there were no individual winners at U15 level, Tom Dickinson knocked 3 sec off his 1500m time(4:50.4) & Kai Finch finished 2nd in the high jump (1.60m).

In the U13 age group, Sam Latimer is proving very consistent as seen by his performances in the 100m(13.6), 200m (27.9) and long jump (3.91m). Mark Roberts again improved his 800m time (2:23.8) in finishing second, whilst Jake Dickinson knocked an incredible 17 seconds off his 1500m time.

It was very much a depleted girl’s team that came 6th out of the 7 teams in division one, but narrowly avoided relegation by finishing 5th overall.
Sole winners on the day were Clare Constable senior 400m (63.4)7 Sadie McNulty U15G high jump (1.40m). Evelyn Smalley useful points in the U17
100m(13.40 and 200m (27.1), whilst U15 Erin Birchall continues to improve as seen in her 100m (13.7), 200m (28.6) and long jump (4.40m). Debutant, Abigael Bamber was the pick of the U13G with graded performances in the 100m(14.4) & 200m(30.5). Equally pleasing is the progress seen in the novices group of Louise Ramsey with many achieving PB’s as seen by Zara Bradshaw 100m(14.60),200m (31.7), Martha Simms 100m
(14.9),200m(33.90), Scarlet Whitfield long jump (3.91m), high jump (1.30m), Nina Smalley long jump (3.03m), Emma Ward high jump (1.25m)7 Emily
Williamson long jump (3.89m)

Over in Stockholm, Michael Rimmer continued his run of good form in the latest Diamond League meeting. It needed another very determined effort over the last 50 metres to secure 3rd place in a photo finish in a time of 1:45.97
