Young guns having some fun

We had a good turn out at the North West Road Relays last week with our Senior Men Team and U13 boys team both winning silver medals.

It’s rare that we have entered junior teams in the relays but was great to be able to enter U11 boys , U13 girls , U13 Boys, U15 boys and girls plus U17 lady.

For some of the young athletes, it was their first ever run, which was quite daunting in front of about 500 people. All of them were superb in very hot conditions. So to have an U11 boys team and see them compete was a great moment. Well done to Cruz, Saul and Sam!
In the u13 Super runs from Matthew Bennet, Jack Clancy and Harrison Wright achieved silver.
Mina Griffin and Grace Allen carried the flag in the U15 girls team and performed well.
We had representation in both Lancashire and Merseyside for U13 girls with Isabelle Elliot making her debut aged 11! And Hattie Loughrey and Isabella Nijs running in our Merseyside team.
It’s always good to see young athletes return after a period away and we were delighted to see Tom Freeman run a leg of our u15 boys team along side Will Henry who is becoming more confident in his runs, recently knocking off a fair few seconds from his PB. Dan Procter continued his impressive season with another solid run, also in the u15 boys.
We had a number of strong senior men teams out and our “A” team finished in the silver medal position, no mean feat in a top quality race.

Sé Loughlin, Ross Harrison, Adam Jones and Jake Dickinson ran a great race to finish 2nd in Lancashire against some impressive runners, a number of who had international experience.
Within the senior men we had a good mixture of youth and experience with our masters athletes performing very well in very hot conditions. It’s fair to say that with John Dickinson, Neil Roberts and Steven Nijs we definitely had the best sunglasses of the day.
