Jack Tustin has died after a stroke. He was very much a part of the successful Pembroke club especially during the 1950s. He was rather overshadowed at the time by a lot of talented athletes but was, nevertheless, a decent performer and a regular team counter. I was in the same class at the Liverpool […]
‘Sub 50 Club’
The Northern Track & Field championships took place over the weekend at Sports City in Manchester. Rarely can one club have dominated an event as much as LPS did in the senior 400m event with four athletes reaching the final and all running under 50 sec. Harry Doran was 2nd (47.82), Danny Higham 3rd (48.96),Luke […]
Disappointing day at Leigh
The second of the Northern League Track and Field meetings(Division 2W) was at Leigh Sports Village. After an exciting first match the `unavailable’ list had lengthened and the Liverpool Pembroke Sefton club were struggling to cover events particularly the female ones. The male sprinters delivered with Adam Thomson(23.3) and Jesse Roberts(24.5) doubling up in the […]
Rosie to compete in Diamond League match
The current form of Rosie Johnson has caught the eye of the British selectors and she has been picked to run in the Under 20 1500m race in Lausanne, Switzerland. Along with Invicta`s Bobby Clay she will take on the best in Europe prior to the start of the main meeting on July 9th.
Harry on targets for trials, Amelia second at Bedford
Harry Doran`s progress as a 800m runner continues. After posting early season times of 1.54 and then 1.51 he went to the British Miler`s Club graded meet at Manchester`s Sportcity. Still learning the two lap event he ran a more balanced race winning in an excellent 1.49.41 which marginally shades his personal best and consolidates […]
A good day at the Oval
The Merseyside Track and Field Championships were held at Bebington Oval, the weather and conditions perfect for top class performances from Liverpool Pembroke Sefton athletes. Once again 17 year old Rosie Johnson was in superb form. Her 800m was virtually a time trial as she went for a personal best. Sustaining a high tempo throughout […]

Press/website reports: Job vacancy
Charles Gains will be gradually stepping down from this position and the club will be looking for a replacement by 2016. Charles requires an assistant who is prepared to work with him and learn the ropes. It would suit a young person who might have a journalistic career in mind. Modest beginnings like this can lead to higher things! […]
Straight to the top again for Rosie!
The British Milers Club Grand Prix series of graded races inevitably attract some of the country`s finest middle distance athletes, anxious to test their early season form. There were two Liverpool Pembroke Sefton runners at Stretford, Rosie Johnson and Harry Doran. Last year Rosie topped the UK Under 17 rankings at 1500m but this year the 17 […]
Kai Finch moves up amongst the elite
The Mid-Lancs League Match at Litherland was virtually a home match for Liverpool Pembroke Sefton AC and was massively supported by the club. The were numerous excellent performances but the stand-out achievement has to be Under-15 Kai Finch who easily took the Under 15 High jump with a massive leap of 1.75m. This takes him […]
