Three LPS athletes represented Great Britain at this year’s European Duathlon Championships which were held at Soria in central Spain at the weekend.All competitors were required to 5km, followed by a 20km cycle before completing the event with a 2.5km run.
Running at altitude, in what were very windy conditions and an extremely hilly terrain, all three acquitted themselves very well.
Helen Sahgal (1:20.51) finished 10th in her age category (30-34)and had the honour of being the GB flag bearer at the event. Lisa Gawthorne (1:24.54) was 16th in the 35-39 category and Mark Wynne (1:17.25) 32nd in the 40-44 category.This event has given all three athletes valuable experience as they prepare for the world championships in Canada in August.
