Double victories for Kirsty and fast times all round at Chrisleton

Kirsty Longley had a busy but rewarding weekend picking up two first places on the roads in Cheshire. On Friday 17th May she won the Chrislton 5k in an impressive 17.16, our women packed well with Helen Sahgal (L/35) coming 7th in 18.09 followed by Lisa Gawthorne (L/35) running as well as ever just failing to dip 19 minutes with another good run of 19.02.

On Sunday Kirsty made the trip to Chester for the half marathon and turned in another winning  performance with a time of 79.03, new member Eleanor Jones had an impressive debut for the club finishing 5th in 84.31. We have at present the strongest women’s endurance groups in the area and I look forward to seeing our women collect lots of team and individual awards in the coming months.

Four senior men  also competed at Chrisleton, Chris Maher was once again Mr Consistent as he led us home in 21st place with yet another sub 16 minute run. Chris was followed by Tony O’Brien(V45) in 32nd place in 16 minutes dead. Another fine run from Tony who is enjoying his running once again and despite the years he is still a force and never to be underestimated. It was good to see Mark Wynne (V40) racing again and he was hot on Tony’s heels finishing 41st in 16.07 . Paul Milburn is running as consistent as ever and turned in a a fine 17.06 performance for 92nd place which shows how good this field was.
