Kirsty jumps to No 1 in National rankings, Mark Wynne takes age group record

At Capenhurst 5k on the 21st August Kirsty Longley set a new course and club record and also jumped to number 1 on the national rankings with a excellent run of 16.37. To put Kirsty’s excellent run in perspective not only is she number one in the country this year buts she now jumps to third in her age group on the UK all time list! Kirsty who suffered a bad fall at the Sale 5k a few weeks which results an a nasty infection had been feeling under the weather all week but bounced back by breaking the course record by 9 seconds and taking back her club record from Tiffany Penfold who had broken at Halewood earlier this year with a run of 16.43

Mark Wynne V/40 broke the club’s age category record over 3000m on 20th August at the Trafford open meeting. Chasing the long stand record time of Paul Pudney set at Watford in 2002  of 8.45.7. In a good field and running alongside the very experienced Gareth Raven of Sale Harriers Mark managed to knock over a second off with a 8.43. Mark has been running remarkable consistent over the last couple of years and has sought out fast race and strong fields and this has shown in his times. Running in the same race Chris Maher dipped 9 minutes for the first time with a run of 8.59.75. Ross Harrison also got a pb in the 1500m with a time of 4.04.67 and Jon Bride showed he was back to form with a 1.58.75 800 metres.
