Success for LPS at Worden Park

Sammy in Paris
Sammy Rashid completed the Paris Half-Marathon in 1.16.13. He was 83rd and 11th in his age group. Apparently it was a chaotic start with many left in queues for toilets etc. Like the the National Sammy found himself adrift and working through back markers. Nevertheless an excellent performance.

Success for LPS at Worden park
On Saturday,Athletes from Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton travelled to Worden Park in Leyland for the final race in the Mid-lancs Cross country league;they returned having claimed two league titles & one team bronze. Kirsty Longley showed her usual dogged determination in finishing runner-up in the Senior Women’s race. She was well supported by Zoe Tarrach in 13th place, a very creditable run in her first ever cross country race. Toria Swift in 29th place brought the team home in 2nd place which clinched the Div.3 title.
The under 13 boys team of Liam Bibby(5), Jack Crook(8),Josh Forrest (18) & Joe Martin (19)were placed 2nd with 50 points behind Pendle (31). Also running were Michael Croft(23), Max Cotterill(27) & Joe Marshall(35). This performance secured them the overall team bronze. At Under 11 level, the Barnsley twins, Alex & Megan, have run consistently well all season. This time Alex(9)got the better of Megan(12). Morag Molyneux (3), Charlotte Mawdsley(22) & Kate Croft(28)competed at under 13 level, whilst Georgie Hannaway finished a very creditable 7th in the under 15 race. The under 17 boys team had already clinched the league title prior to the final race and had only James Loftus(6)& Dave Reece(11) running on the day. The U15 boys packed well, with Jonathon Bride having his best run of the season in 12th place, closely followed by Chris Webber (13) and Daniel Wright (14), but sadly one short for a
team position.
