Club veterans, Gary Ireland and Dave Brown, competed in the Throws Pentathlon at Solihull at the weekend. The event, which is very popular with throws veterans, consisted of Hammer, Shot, Discus, Javelin and a Weight Throw (thrown like a hammer but much heavier with a short handle). Gary won the V45 category with a good all round performance, with Dave coming third in the V50 category.
At Alexander Stadium, Sammy Rashid competed in the British Masters Track 10K Championships. Although disappointed with his time of 35.10 min., Sammy did enough to retain the title he won last year.
