Objective

The accumulator is designed to encourage more people to run more events representing LPS. In particular,

  • To ensure that LPS is represented in races that are a priority to the club or those that are seen as prestige.
  • To foster team spirit and camaraderie.

Points will be awarded to the runner for each qualifying race that they complete.  Some races are worth more points than others depending upon their level of importance to the club and quality of the race event. A list of qualifying races is attached.

The races are split into 4 categories, for each race you complete you will earn points depending on which category the race falls in to.

You will also earn points based on your individual performance.

  1. The start date is 1 September 2025, close date 31 August 2026 and will backdate qualifying events to 1 September. We will also introduce interim competitions in 4 month segments. So you have the opportunity to win individual segments as well as the annual competition.
    • Annual competition over 12 months
    • Segment 1 ends 31/12/2025, Segment 2 starts 1/1/2026 and ends 30/4/2026 and segment 3 starts 1/5/2026 and ends 31/8/2026
  2. To qualify athletes must have competed in at least 4 races from the club priority or the prestige category. A combination of both is allowed and there are circa 30 to choose from.
  3. No events shorter than 800m will be counted in the scheme.
  4. Points will be awarded for Personal Best times achieved in the event.
  5. Additional points will be awarded if the personal best time has been exceeded by 2 or more seconds.
  6. For team events, where a full team has completed the race, additional points will be allocated to each team member. g. In cross country, Parbold Hill or Harrock we have sufficient people to score for a team score or in road relays we are able to put out a full men’s team or full ladies’ team.
  7. We will award points for a consistency streak when a PB has been attained. This means that in this streak the athlete must have achieved a PB and the two following races must be all within a second of the new PB.
    • A streak is 3 continuous races of the same type. Ie 3 x 10k, or 3 x 5k. For 5k/10k we will also include track. It is possible to achieve up to 2 multiple streaks.
