End of season `opens’

Some 20 medals were collected at the Mid-Lancs meeting at Wigan. At Under 13 Lauren Lewis was again in form with a sparkling 13.4 100m win and other golds were collected by the talented High Jumpers Jade Murphy(1.45m) and Kai Finch(1.43m) Silvers went to Owen Southern who tied with Kai on 1.43m but lost out on the count-back and Lauren Lewis who long jumped to 4.20m. Kai reappeared in the 100m for a 13.7 third spot and Alex Barnsley collected similar results in the 200m (29.8) and 800m (2.50.6).

At Under 15 Morgan Grieves-Thomas was a double victor with an excellent 100m (11.3) and 200m (23.9)and the improving Evelyn Smalley produced a 4.61m long jump, the best by an LPS female this season. A runner-up in this age group was Ed Latimer (400m in 56.0) and there were three thirds in the shape of a Ben Harding Javelin throw of 33.76, a 1500m run by Morag Molyneux in 5.18.1 and Evelyn again with 200m in 28.0.

In the U17 category Corinne Molyneux, won gold at 1500m (5.32.2) and Grace Whitfield took third in the Triple Jump(8.72m) .At Senior level Billy Williams leapt 1.80m to victory in the High Jump and Rachel Hutchinson was similarly successful in the Hammer with 35.84. She was also delighted to also collect silver in the Shot Putt(7.68m). In all a pretty successful day for LPS.

At a previous Litherland meeting the two Lauren`s double-act , Lewis and Ramsey, looked impressive with 75m in 10.2 and 10.5 plus 150m times of 20.7 and 21.0 respectively. Kai Finch(1.45m) and Owen Southern(1.40m) were dominant in the High Jump, as was the astonishing Jade Murphy, this time on 1.40m. At U15 Evelyn Smalley sprinted to a smart 100m in 13.4 and another of the High Jump squad Jessica Wohler recorded 1.35m. The emerging U17 Dominic O`Hanlon was impressive with a 5.76m Long Jump.
