Lauren is the tops!

This the time of year when track and field aspirants test themselves in various open meetings. Liverpool Pembroke and Sefton mini-star Lauren Lewis was at both the Blackpool and Warrington meets. At the seaside event she set a new club record for the Under 13 80m with 10.9 and at Victoria Park she ran 75m in 10.6. The latter time takes her to the joint top position in the UK rankings. She now holds an impressive clutch of club records for 75m, 80m and 100m.

The London Marathon festival includes `mini-marathons’ for younger athletes. After an impressive winter both Rosie Johnson and Daniel Slater were singled out to represent the North West. Rosie had a great run in the Under 17s completing¬† the course in 16.36 and just missing out on a podium position in fourth spot. Daniel at Under 15 was 30th out of a large field in 16.00 in his race. Both now turn their attention to the track.
