Ten Tackle Beacon

Ten senior men tackled the annual Ashurst Beacon race on 13th January, this popular event held over 5.9 miles starts and finishers close to the Ashurst Beacon. The first mile is almost all downhill so there is no prize for guessing the last mile is all uphill. Through farmyards along country lanes and some very heavy fields this race has almost everything you could ask for in a nice hill race on a cold January afternoon.

Andrew Foster lead home the LPS lads home in 16th place followed by the ever impressive Chris Pedder (29th) now a V60, next was another club stalwart Greg Callaghan in 34th place. John Dickinson was 40th just held off John Halson in 41st place with Richard Beesley not that far behind in 46th spot.  Robbie Wood (67th) and Mark Hudson (70th) battled it out over the last mile. Sam Carr (83rd) after a fast start found second half of the race a big challenge but I am sure he will no better next time he tackles this event. John Dobie who turned 71 last November gave another impressive performance in 114th place
