Fireworks at Barrowford & Fair play to Tom in NY

October ended with a bang for Elle Anderson at Podium 5k in Barrowford where she smashed her PB with a 1st sub 17 time of 16:48. Elle was part of a three person LPS team with Nick Turner finishing in 17:34 and Andrew Foster 17:53.

Over the same weekend Dan Brookfield achieved his PB in the Chester Zoo 10K with 37:12., over 2 minutes quicker than his last 10K.

National Cross Country Relays – Mansfield

The club continued into new territory by taking part in the National Cross Country relays with a 4 man team of Ross Harrison, Joe Niven, Tony O’Brien and Adam Fields sporting the 118 vest.

Unfortunately, we never completed the race as Adam Fields suffered an ankle injury after a 1km of the last leg and had to pull out. At the time we were on track for a top 50 finish and Adam attempted to continue but was unable to.  Throughout the race, our athletes put in strong performances with Ross Harrison in 34th place in leg 1 and Joe Niven a similar place in leg 2. Tony O’Brien in leg 3 ran hard to maintain a similar position with the club in 37th at the start of the final leg.

The achievements continued as Tom Mattack at Tatton Park with a finish of 42:03 which took 28 secs off his previous best.

Over at Halewood, Dan Brookfield finished in 17:33, a 22 sec PB.  Lisa Gawthorne continued her rich vein of form as she finished 1st female again in a course best of 18:34.

Performance of the week though goes to Tom Fair, who took part in the New York marathon. He smashed his initial 3 hr target to finish superbly in 2:50.06
