Fun in the mud and a dash across Leeds

Witton Park – Mid Lancs

Cross Country season started with a lively event at Witton Park, Blackburn.  LPS was well represented and it was great to see a number of our younger athletes taking part for the first time.

In the under 11 girls, the diminutive Poppy Colothan finished superbly in 11th place, completing the course in 7:29.  Over in the boys’ race, Mathew Bennett showed his potential with a brilliant second place finish, just 4 second behind the leader.  We were pleased to see two more of our under 11 boys , Zach Macleod and Thomas Yates also having great races to help the team to a 6th place finish.

Gabby Taylor and Hattie Loughrey, also in her first club cross country, represented our U13 girls. Both putting in strong performances and loving the experience.

In the boys’ race for the same age group Tom Freeman and William Roberts both had good top 25 finishes.

Moving up the age groups, Sarah Yates continues to impress with a 7th place finish in the u15 girls.

The two Daniels, Daniel Proctor and Daniel Berry (making his return for the mud) representing the u15 boys both out in decent performances in a competitive field.

Well done to Aidan Berry, who made his LPS debut in a tough U17 race, he finished well in 20:33.

Sharon Roberts and Tracy Berry represented our senior ladies with credible performances finishing in 27:15 and 28:11 respectively.

In the senior men, Joe Niven put in a top performance finishing 4th in 32.28. Dan Jones, continues to re-emerge and finished 24th from the field of 237 with an excellent time of 34:43.
