Kirsty Longley is already enjoying a fine year. The Liverpool Pembroke Sefton distance ace put together an other outstanding performance in finishing third female in the Christleton 5K Road Race in 17.28 chopping a huge minute off the club best ever time. First in the O35`s she simultaneously leapt to fifth in the current veteran 2012 rankings. Also at Chester Zoe Tarrach, who gets better all the time, recorded 18.38.
The Young Athletes were at Macclesfield for the second of their Northern League(Div 1SW) matches. Although still short of numbers the club consolidated its third spot behind Warrington and the host club. It is an occasion U15 Alex McSweeney will remember as on his debut for the club he won three events with excellent throws, Shot(10.67m), Javelin(38.74m) and Discus(27.7m). Obviously a talent to look out for. Although not quite at her sharpest and third in her U15 800M Rosie Johnson recorded a very decent time of 2.19.4. Also at 800m`s U13 Matty Richardson was first with 2.31 and James Grundy likewise at U17 with 2.02.8. The consistent U13 Morag Molyneux took the 1200m in 4.57 while Andrew Freeman sprinted to glory with a 200m in 24.81 and 400m in 55.1. Arguably, though, the best performance of the day might have come from Ryan Blackwell who raced to a 1500m win in 4.11.5.
Other field event exponents played their part in point accumulation particularly the high jumpers with a string of victories. There were U13s Nina Nickson(1.30m) and Kai Finch(1.34m) with U15 Grace Whitfield on 1.30m. Not unexpectedly U17 Amelia McLaughlin rose to 1.60m but Dave McComb`s parallel 1.71m win will be seen as equally satisfactory. Mark Hynd is establishing himself as a reliable winner and was so on this occasion with a U17 Shot Putt of 11.81m and Discus Throw of 28.85m. Results
At the highly prestigious Loughborough International Meeting Harry Doran acquitted himself well running 48.00 in the 400m for fifth in the A event.
