Club Captain Mark Wynne continued his rise up the national O/40 vets rankings with another PB of 16 min 13 secs for his 12th place and 2nd vet overall. Club mate Kirst Longley had a rare off day and finished down the field in 17.43 and will look to bounce straight back in the Salford 10K on 5th Sept.

England Athletics U/15 & U/17 Championships- Bedford (28th/29th)
High Jump Specialists Kai Finch and Owen Southern travelled with hopes of getting on the podiums but fell just short on the day .
Kai was disappointed with his best jump of 1 metre 91cm for 6th place , whilst Owen finished in 5th place with his 1 metre 76cm and both will no doubt carry on the progress they’ve made under coach Dave McComb.

Mid –Lancs T&F League- Leigh Sports Village
In the final fixture of the year there were several LPS competing in the warm conditions. Owen Southern jumped 1 metre.78 for 1st place in the U/15 High Jump whilst Matt Ingram pulled off a triple win in the U/17 100m (11.9) Triple Jump (12.74) and the Long Jump (5.83). Rob Ward jumped 5.02 for 2nd spot.
William Hynd just missed 1st place with his 43.95 Javelin throw in the U/17’s.
Ed Townson showed his good form winning the U/15 Boys 100 metres in 13.3.
Mark Roberts won the U/13 Boys 800 metre race in 2.23.5 and then had a third place in the High Jump with 1 metre 40cm just behind clubmate Sandy Clarkson also with 1 metre 40 cm.
Deborah Dasse had a 1st place double in the Senior Womens High Jump (1m.50) and Triple Jump (9.26)
Evelyn Smalley was just pipped for 1st place in the Senior Womens Long Jump with her 4 metres 76cm.
Lucy Townson had a busy afternoon with her three placings in the Senior 400 (3rd- 61.4), 200 metres (2nd- 27.1), 100 metres )2nd – 13.2)
Erin Burchall had a double 1st place afternoon winning the U/15 Long Jump (4.76) and 200 metres in 28.0. There were other 1st place performances from Martha Simms in the U/13 Girls Long Jump (4.39), Niam Doyle in the U/13 Girls High Jump (1.43).
Sadie McNulty continued her good form with a 1 metre 40 jump for 1st place in the U/15 High Jump just winning on countback from club teammate Erin Moffat who also jumped 1 metre 40.
In the U/13 Girls 100 metres Abigail Bamber was unlucky not to win with her 13.7 as she clocked the same time as the winner.
In the U/15 Girls 100 there was a blanket finish which saw three LPS girls, Lucy Le Mariel ( 2nd- 14.2), Scarlett Whitfield (3rd-14.5) , Niam Edmunds (4th- 14.7) to make one of the best races of the day

Trafford Medal Meeting 29th Aug
Coach Phil Whitfield took 5 girls to the end of season medal meeting hosted by Trafford AC. Sadie McNulty won the U/15 High Jump with 1 metre 50cm and Scarlett Whitfield and Imogen Ayres (both 1 m.40) were in a tied battle that resulted in them being given joint third place. Alice Prescott finished just outside the medals in 4th place in her 300 metre race.
