LPS enjoy their day at the seaside.

43 athletes made the journey to Blackpool for the first of this season’s Mid-Lancs meetings. The boys (156.6) finished 2nd behind Preston (196), while the girls (156) finished in 3rd place behind Preston (199) and Blackburn (166.5)

The high jumpers are already setting high standards at this early stage of the season winning 7 of the age groups with Billy Willams SM (1.75 m), Debbie Dasse SW (1.50m), Kai Finch U17M (1,90m), Jorden Pilkington U17W (1.50m), Sandy Clarkson U15B (1.58m) & Imogen Ayres U15G (1.45m).
The horizontal jumpers too have started the season well. Lauren Lewis (5.12m)& Erin Birchall (5.02m)made it a 1/2 at U17 level. Alice Prescott, competing in the triple jump for the first time, was 2nd with 9.90m, closely followed by Erin Birchall (9.88m) and Jorden Pilkington(9.72m). U15 Martha Simms (4.52m) and Shaun French U13 (4.13m) both recorded personal bests.

Hope Kennedy did well in the javelin with a throw of 23.79m and there was success too on the track. Lauren Lewis U17W completed a sprint double winning the 100m(12.4) and 200m (27.5) as did Lucy Townson SW in the 200m(27.5)and 400m (61.3).
Also at senior level, Harry Doran 400m (49.5), Luke Edwards 800m (1: 59.6) & Jonathon Bride 1500m (4:20.5) were comfortable winners in their
events. At middle distance, Oliver Sutcliffe U15 was 2nd in the 3K (10: 20.0), as was Tom Corcoran U15 in the 1500m (4:41.0).
However, this is very much a development league and there were numerous U13’s competing for the first time and trying new events. the team
spirit was great and they thoroughly enjoyed their day at the seaside.
