Rosie recovers pride at Birmingham

Cofton Park, Birmingham provided the usual muddy terrain for the Inter-counties Cross Country Championships. A county representative call-up is still an honour athletes treasure and no fewer than eleven Liverpool Pembroke Sefton runners heeded the call. The most outstanding result came from Under 17 Rosie Johnson(Merseyside) who threw off a disappointing performance in the National Championships to record seventh placing and propel herself back amongst the best in the country.
LPS provided no fewer than four members of the Lancashire Under 20 team. Alistair Nelson was an excellent 29th followed by Ryan Blackwell(46), James Loftus(78) and Rob Parkinson(171). Alistair and Ryan were part of the bronze medal winning team. Daniel Slater Merseyside) has had a most rewarding season reflected in his 27th position here in the U15s with team mate Matt Richardson on 183rd. Others who strove mightily were U20 Maxine Thomson(101) and U17 Jonathan Bride(239), both Lancs.
The smile championship though went to two senior LPS ladies, Lisa Gawthorne(208) and Vicki Jones(258) who picked up Merseyside vests. For sheer enthusiasm these would take some beating and reflect the continued rise of girl power in the club.
