Top performances at Hyndburn

The second of the Mid Lancs League matches was held at Hyndburn and provided Liverpool the Pembroke Sefton club with a raft of quality performances. At Under 13 level Ethan Prothero recorded a sharp 100m in 13.6. Owen Southern was well clear in the High Jump at 1.30m and Joe Houghton ran a very encouraging 800m in 2.28.7.  Lauren Lewis was again outstanding with a top timing of 13.2 for the 100m and an equally commanding Long Jump of 4.38m. Her range of talent stretched to the Shot where she was third with 7.35m. In this age group there is a clutch of other athletes including Lucy Le Marinel, Chris Arnold, Charlotte Graham and Bethany Milton, Megan Lovatt, Scarlett Whitfield, Katy Richardson and Tasha Johnson  all quietly progressing.

At Under 15 two 800m runners shone in the shape of a confident Daniel Slater (2.06.5) but just as much joy came from the sight of a vastly improving Matt Richardson well clear in his heat with 2.12.7. Robert Ward is a quality sprinter  with 100m and 200m heat wins in 12.6 and 25.9. Kofi Wheatley is another to watch as he raced to a 400m win in 59.8.Kai Finch was joint first in the High Jump with 1.55m. The girls had a star performance from Morag Molyneux well clear at 1500m in 5.02.4. Megan Barnsley garnered useful points with a 4.09m Long Jump as did Jenny Wroblewski with a Shot Putt of 6.35m and Javelin Throw of 16.84m. Jade Murphy was second in her High Jump with 1.40m.

The Under 17 range saw a magnificent 100m victory in 11.1 from Morgan Greaves-Thomas with Elliot Jones also showing well with 11.4. Vying with Morgan for best performance of the day was Joe Milton stepping up in age and distance to easily win the 400m in 51.3 with Ed Latimer also looking good at 54.00. Jack Crook was a fine runner up in the 800m and his time of 2.06.5 was impressive. Ella Barton will also be well pleased with her time of 13.0 for 100m. Evelyn Smalley is progressing well at sprints and jumps and Nicole Hernandez-Coulson is throwing well at Shot and Discus.

The seniors clearly by-passed this match with only two on show. Dominic O’Hanlon ran 100m in 12.4 and Long and Triple jumped 5.57m and 10.92m. Vet Dave Brown was quietly satisfied in taking the Shot with 10.36m and runner-up in the Discus with 29.50m. Although light on numbers the men were 5th in their team match and the women held on to second.
