The English Schools Cross Country Cup series went to Bolton for the North West Finals. In the Intermediate Boys race the exuberant Adam Jones was always on hand and collected an excellent fourth spot. He helped Ormskirk School to finish second overall and qualify for the Grand Final at Bedford in December. Coach John McCarten sees in Adam the same potential as his older brother, Dan. In the Junior race Ormskirk School were sixth team with Mark Roberts placing a respectable 15th. Again at Intermediate level the Tarleton School were seventh including a strong performance from Ross Harrison 10th with Henry
Latimer 65th. In the Junior Girls race Formby School were seventh with Jenny Williamson 20th and Faye Hannaway 52nd helping the team out.
