Blackpool was the venue for the first track & field meeting in the Mid-Lancs league. Persistent rain throughout made conditions difficult for athletes. Forty six Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton athletes competed and the club showed its
Mark Roberts
dominance in a number of events.
Luke Edwards (49.80) led the club to a 1,2,3 in the men’s 400 metres with Ed Latimer (50.2) & Joe Milton (50.30 finishing 2nd & 3rd. The girls too had a clean sweep in the U15 Long Jump with Lauren Lewis needing her final jump (4.83m)to snatch victory from Alice Prescott (4.78m)with Erin Birchall(4.52m) in 3rd place.
The high jumping quartet of Billy Williams (1.70m), Kai Finch (1.75m), Owen Southern (1.65m) and Sadie McNulty all won their respective age categories.
Mark Roberts (U13B)had an excellent run in the U13B 800m storming to victory in the final 300 metres in a time of 5:02. Other winners on the day were Matt Ingram(U17B) in the long jump(5.61m) & triple jump (11.48m), Marcus Bathie U15B in the long jump(4.54m),Lucy Townson (SW) in 200m (28.8), Alice Prescott (U15G) in 200m (28.5),Lauren Lewis (U15G) in 100m (13.6) and Matt Richardson (U17B)in the 800m (2:05.2)
Many others made a contribution to the team score with saw the boys finish 3rd & the girls 4th
Coaches Mike Dandy & Phil Whitfield were well pleased by the performances of their sprinters and jumpers on the day
Halewood 5k
At the monthly Halewood 5k it was a first and second for LPS as Mark Wynne and James Loftus crossed the line together in 16.28 Robbie Wood was 29th in 19.54, followed by Andrew Conway 38th place in 21,26, the irrepressible John Dobie was 60th in 23.43 Results
